I 've been in the business of cars for many years, body, paint, mechanical, racing, marketing, buying & selling. I've also always had project cars... mostly 240Z's, a '66 Valiant Signet and a '68 Mustang Convertible (the ones that got away...). In 2003 I decided to get serious and make it my mid-life hobby as well(better cars than girls when you're married!). I bought a '67 Galaxie 500XL Convertible and rebuilt it (body and paint) at home in my two car attached garage. It was tight, it was dark, it was kinda hard - but fun. Then last year I sold our IP2 race car (a '71 240Z I built for my then girlfriend, now wife, to race) and bought a '74 Dodge Challenger for a complete rebuild.
One day, after moving around my project cars and all my tools just to find a snow-shovel - with which to dig our daily drivers out of yet another snow storm - my wife said - "you need to build youself a shop so we can park OUR cars inside". Yes I did indeed!!
Fast forward to 2007: 1000 Square foot shop wih 11 foot ceilings, finished inside and out, with the Galaxie, the Challenger another 71 Datsun 240Z and lately, a '46 Merc 1/2T . It's got satellite TV, a stereo, programable thermostat and a continually growing complement of tools (just added: 18 cfm compressor with hard lines, a sandblaster AND a four-post BendPAk lift - June/08).
